Last year on Twitter I ‘met’ Freelance Web Designer and Texan perfumer Stephanie K. Vinson; creator of Stephanie K. Naturals.

I was in the process of creating an all natural perfume brand guide on my website Eco Beauty Reviews and via e-mail I mentioned the fact to Stephanie as I was very eager to feature her brand.
She kindly sent me all natural perfume oil samples of her Nightflower, Green Sun and Mountain to try.

Nightflower ~ All Natural Perfume Oil [6ml/0.5oz glass bottle]

Heart Notes: Indian Jasmine, Coffee, Moroccan Atlas Cedar
Base Notes: Texas Cedarwood, Australian Sandalwood, Balsam of Peru
The all natural botanical extracts in Stephanie K. Naturals ‘Nightflower’ Perfume Oil is based in fractionated coconut.
I found the strong floral scent of this perfume to be a bit too much for my liking.

Heart Notes: Rosewood, Geranium, Juniper Berry, Clove

If you have never walked through an evergreen forest then Stephanie K. Naturals will take you there with their ‘Mountain’ Perfume Oil.
This mild-scented unisex perfume is a favourite of mine and my mothers.
Green Sun ~ All Natural Perfume Oil [6ml/0.5oz glass bottle]

Top Notes: Green Mandarin, Yellow Mandarin, Grapefruit, Kaffir Lime Leaf, Ginger
Heart Notes: Lavender Absolute, Petitgrain
Base Notes: Labdanum
The all natural botanical extracts in Stephanie K. Naturals ‘Green Sun’ Perfume Oil is based in fractionated coconut.
Men and women alike are going to love ‘Green Sun’ Perfume Oil from Stephanie K. Naturals.
I found on first application I could smell a citrus scent but as each hour passed the scent changed to a grassy aroma then to a sweet woody earthy scent.
Even though I liked ‘Green Sun’ Perfume Oil, my perfume oil preference of the three samples from Stephanie K. Naturals would definitely be ‘Mountain’ Perfume Oil.
Packaging/Presentation
Stephanie’s takes great pride in presenting her perfume oils. The samples were wrapped well and labeled accordingly.
My interview with Stephanie K. Vinson
I asked Stephanie what made her decide to become a botanical perfumer and here is her response:
“When I was a teenager I realized that, like my mother, I got very painful headaches from perfume and fragranced products.
It seemed like I would be relegated to unscented products for all my life, and I really wished I was able to wear something to smell pretty.
My mother began using essentials oils for aromatherapy and household use, and I realized I could use them for fragrance without the headaches.
I wanted more people to have access to natural and eco-friendly fragrance alternatives, so in 2007 I began to make and sell natural perfume blends.
With each fragrance, I aim to celebrate the unique beauty of natural essences. I often start with just one or two essences that I intend to be the focus of the scent.
As I add essences to complement and enhance, it sometimes comes out as anticipated and sometimes it evolves into something wholly unexpected. Either way, the end result are these wonderful fragrances that I feel are are naturally more complex, nuanced and incredibly beautiful.”
Stephanie K. Vinson talks about natural perfume:
A true natural perfume is a fragrance created using only materials organic in origin. Ingredients are extracted essences of flowers, leaves, stems, wood, roots, seeds and resins. We use many types of plant extractions such as essential oils, absolutes, CO2 extracts, resins, concretes, floral waxes, tinctures, and infusions of raw plant materials.
Natural perfumes are clear and complex with subtle nuances. Because these are the real plant scents, they are dynamic and true and beautiful. The perfume is intimate rather than diffusive. It does not fill a room or leave a large “scent trail,” rather the perfume lingers in your personal space.
Always try the perfume on your skin, as your skin’s natural chemistry can affect the perfume’s aroma. You’ll notice that the scent will evolve and change as the day wears on. The top notes give way to the heart notes, which then dry down to deep base notes.
We believe that it is the beautiful essences of nature and honoring them that make natural perfumes superior fragrances. I encourage you to sample these and experience the difference for yourself.
Freelance Web Designer and Texan perfumer Stephanie Kay Vinson;
creator of Stephanie K. Naturals tragically passed away on May 13,
2018 after becoming trapped under her car while performing an oil
change. She was only 35.
Stephanie followed her passion for creating beautiful vegan perfumery and wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of other people.
I thank the time I got to chat with Stephanie; even though it was
via email. Let’s keep Stephanie‘s memory alive by
supporting artisan perfumers who truly care about what we use on our bodies.
