I’m so grateful that Maggie Mahboubian, the founder of Lalun Naturals from West Hollywood California, sent me a pure perfume oil sample pack of her Parfums Lalun Qajar Rose, Vera Gardenia as well as La Lune De Miel Eau de Parfums.
What a delight it was in trying them! The scents of each perfume instantly lifted my mood as they smelled so incredible. I was drawn back to them time and time again; especially Qajar Rose. Such a ‘real’ pick me up which is what I needed.
Qajar Rose Eau de Parfum (My Absolute Favourite!)
You wouldn’t think that a perfume could help relax you when you’re not feeling so great or heavily stressed out. However, Maggie’s Qajar Rose did just that.
After reading about the benefits of the ingredients which Maggie chose for her Qajar Rose, I decided to rub some of this beautiful perfume oil on my chest, inside of my wrists and on either side of my neck.
Within a matter of 10-15 minutes of inhaling the aroma of Qajar Rose, I found I felt more relaxed; relieving the tension I was feeling.
Everyone’s olfactory (sense of smell) differs, so for me Qajar Rose smelled of a floral earthy musky rooty woody fragrance; not too heavy and not too light.
Maggie Mahboubian ‘nose’ her ‘notes’ and her Qajar Rose is such a beautiful perfume to wear towards the afternoon/evening. I even wear it before bedtime.
I can definitely smell the subtle difference of the aroma of Qajar Rose when the breeze picks up its scent as the perfume evolves.
Qajar Rose is a perfume that I couldn’t bear to go without; not even for one day. So before I was left just sniffing the left over scent from Maggie’s perfume sample, I ordered a 10 ml bottle of it from benaturallyyou.com.
I know I’m daydreaming but I’d love to bathe in a scent similar to Qajar Rose.
Qajar Rose: Ingredients of Organic, Wildcrafted and Biodynamic Essences:
Rose Otto Iran, Fragonia, Roman Chamomile, Tagette, Pomegranate, Galbanum, Ethyl decadionate nat. (naturally occurring in pear)
Heart: Rose Otto Turkey, Rose Otto Russia, Rose Geranium sur fleurs, Davana, Saffron, Coffee, Strawberry furanone nat. (naturally occurring in strawberries)
Angelica Seed, Buddha Wood, Oudh Laos, Ambergris tincture, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Ambrette, Cocoa, Katrafay, Patchouli, Vanilla and a carrier of Fractionated Coconut Oil
Just before posting my review, Maggie re-evaluated her Qajar Rose (the oil version) and left this comment on Instagram:
“Qajar Rose was originally designed for an alcohol base. However after a few years a slightly sour note can develop which probably has to do with the volatility of the alcohol. The oil version, on the other hand, has non of the harshness and really projects the musky, fruity, lacquered notes. The result, in part, of the gorgeous Australian Buddahwood used. “
~ Maggie Mahboubian, Parfums Lalun
Please Note: Qajar Rose is not a vegan perfume but is cruelty-free; meaning the ingredients haven’t been tested on animals.
“My ambergris comes from New Zealand and is beach found. To the best of my knowledge, the ambergris used in perfumery must be aged in sun and surf to develop the complex characteristics that make it so special (hence found on a beach). If it is extracted from the whale directly, it is black, oily, fecal and gooey.
Aged ambergris is grey, silver or slightly golden and crumbly. This can only happen through exposure to sun and surf. For a great book on the subject read Floating Gold.”
La Lune de Miel Eau de Parfum
After testing La Lune de Miel on my wrist I could smell a hint of spice but as the day wore on the warmth of my body brought forth the scent of rose, vanilla and the sweetness of honey.
I’m sure Maggie Mahboubian created La Lune de Miel for Honeymooner’s as La Lune de Miel is the French name for “The Moon of Honey” or “Honeymoon”.
The 10ml bottle comes with a roll-on applicator.
I feel this lovely scent is unisex.
Top notes: Coriander, Cinnamon Leaf, Wormwood
Heart notes: Rosa Gallica, Raspberry ketone natural, Cumin
Base notes: Patchouli, Beeswax absolute, Vanilla and a carrier of Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Please Note: La Lune De Miel is not a vegan perfume but is cruelty-free; meaning the ingredients haven’t been tested on animals. The Beeswax absolute has been ethically sourced from happy bees. No bees have been harmed in the making of this perfume.
Vera Gardenia Eau de Parfum
The feminine heady floral scent of Vera Gardenia reminds me of summers many moons ago where Gardenias graced our front yard. The warmth and the humidity of those evenings unfurled their scents into the breeze.
The true aroma of Vera Gardenia is captivating indeed.

Samantha speaks highly of Maggie:
“I simply fell in love with her range, her integrity and the way she creates her fragrances. She’s a beautiful woman who I respect so it’s a joy and honour to represent PARFUMS LALUN in Australia.”
Maggie Mahboubian said that she had been taking Vera Gardenia to a couple of trade shows. Since there has been a great deal of interest in this perfume, Maggie will be compounding a batch of Vera Gardenia, bottling it and selling it on her websites soon.
It’s been such a delight sampling Maggie’s PARFUMS LALUN perfumes. The full size comes in a beautiful glass roll on.

MESSAGE FROM MAGGIE MAHBOUBIAN, FOUNDER OF PARFUMS LALUN
“Combining the ancient traditions of Persia with a modern sensibility, all of my products are crafted by hand in micro batches using whole, minimally processed, pure ingredients without the addition of synthetics or extenders. I source ingredients that are safe during manufacture and the botanicals I extract are wild-grown in my biodynamic garden (located in the heart of West Hollywood) or ethically wildcrafted from pristine sources in the Hudson Valley.
PARFUMS LALUN takes my love of botanicals, Persian background and training in architecture to the next level by creating olfactory constructs using a palette of naturally derived essences. I believe in full disclosure, so my perfume notes listed above are my total ingredients. No more hiding behind the word “Fragrance”, because everyone deserves to know what they are putting on their bodies.
Important Note: Natural isolates are chemical constituents that exist in nature that have been extracted/isolated from a whole source. They are not synthetic. For example, eugenol occurs in high percentages in cloves. Most likely the eugenol natural isolate I use has been extracted from cloves (sometimes the source is given). This vanillin, oddly enough, has been extracted from cloves. Benzaldehyde is distilled from almonds. My perfumery palette includes the spectrum of odors derived from in-house extractions (tinctures, enfleurage), traditional essential oils to more high tech methods.”
