Only a ‘mad scientist’ would come up with the insane idea that by clogging the sweat glands, like a cork in a bottle, it would put a stop to sweat-feasting bacteria (the culprits that cause bad body odour).
Preventing our armpits or body from perspiring defies the laws of nature; as we weren’t born with sweat glands for no reason.
Sweat glands serve a purpose; to rid our bodies of toxins. We start to sweat too when we are overheated and this helps to regulate our body temperature. The body cools when the sweat evaporates on the skin.
So the best defence to combat body odour is to kill the bacteria before it even gets a chance to eat and digest sweat. Now this is where essential oils come into play.
“Living Libations” Poetic Pits are a ‘Stroke of Genius’. These natural deodorant-odorants, as founders Nadine Artemis and Ron Obadia have charmingly called them, will blend with your body chemistry and neutralise odours.
Seeing as I was in the process of ordering hair care and oral care products from Nadine, she kindly sent ‘Vetiver Poetic Pits’ my way.
I found the combined earthy woodsy aroma of pure, organic, undiluted sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver essential oils to be very potent; more of a masculine scent I feel. However, as the day wore on the fragrance was not as strong.
What I was most impressed about was the fact that only one application was enough to last all day; 11 hours to be precise.
Since this post I’ve had the pleasure of trying Living Libations GingerLily, Classic, Petal and RoseGlow Poetic Pits.
All Poetic Pits come in a convenient 1.25, 5 or 10ml glass bottle with a roller ball.
Please note: It would be wise to make sure your axilla’s (armpits) are clean and wiped dry before applying Poetic Pits. This is to make sure that there will be no cross-contamination when using the roller ball.
